What to Expect

Your day begins by being picked up at your preferred place (yes, you say where!) from where we will take you to the Christ the Redeemer, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, located on the top of the Corcovado Mountain. And we will get there with style: a train ride through the Tijuca RainForest.

The next visit will be to Santa Teresa, a charming neighborhood near the City Center. Then, we will go to the Selaron Stairs with their unique street art in the form of colorful tiles and to the Metropolitan Cathedral, a mark of Modern Architecture. From there, we will go for a car ride through Tijuca National Park, the largest urban forest in the world, stopping by the Chinese View viewpoint and the beautiful Taunay Waterfall.

Finally, we will take you to the Sugar Loaf, where you can ride the cable cars and watch a breathtakingly beautiful view of the city and the coast of Rio.

Tour ends with drop-off off at your place of choice

    frequently asked questions

What are the preventive measures against covid-19 adopted on the tours? If I'm already vaccinated, do I need to follow them?

The measures are those recommended by WHO and OMT, which guarantee us the ‘Safe Travels’ and ‘Responsible Tourism’ stamps: mandatory use of masks during the tour (including inside vehicles), hygiene of hands and surfaces, social distance whenever possible. People who have already been vaccinated must comply with the measures in the same way as those who have not yet been vaccinated. These are measures aimed at protecting the team and customers. Failure to comply will result in immediate suspension of the tour without the right to reimbursement.

What are the main attractions in Rio?

Rio has numerous natural, historical, and cultural attractions, so it is difficult to list them all. But without a doubt, the most important and famous are the Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain. Oh, and Copacabana and Ipanema beaches.

I don't know if I want to visit the places listed on the tour. Can I change itinerary?

Definitely! This is perhaps the main advantage of private tours, especially ours: flexibility. And these changes can be made even during the tour!

The tickets for Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf are not included in the prices. How do I buy them and how much will I spend?

We do not include the tickets in the prices because of the flexibility of the itineraries: we don’t want you to pay for something that you might not want to use. We always recommend buying them in advance online to avoid queues, and we help with the purchase process.

If you prefer to buy on your own, here’s how to proceed:

Christ the Redeemer: We usually recommend going up the Corcovado Mountain by train, as it is a more pleasant experience. The train ticket gives direct access to the statue. You can buy them on the ‘Trem do Corcovado’ app, available on the Play Store and Apple Store or the official website. The regular price is BRL 88,00 per adult, but it can vary according to the date. Senior and children discounts apply only to brazilians. We recommend scheduling the train for 1 hour after the beggining of the tour (eg: if you want us to pick you up from your hotel at 08:00 am, the train must be scheduled for 09:00 or 09:20). If you are staying in a more remote neighborhood like Barra da Tijuca or the pick-up location is the airport, please contact us before booking tickets. Keep in mind you can only book the train going up, not the one coming down. There will be a queue for that.

Sugar Loaf: There are 2 options for the cable car tickets: the Regular (BRL 115.00 per adult) and Fast Pass (skip all lines, BRL 210.00 per adult). In high season and on special dates (eg Carnival) we strongly recommend buying the Fast Pass for a better experience. Both options have different values for children, seniors and students of any nationality. Document with photo proving the condition must be taken on the day of the tour. You can buy them here.

So you can expect a cost of BRL 203.00 per adult if you choose the regular ticket for Sugr Loaf and BRL 298.00 per adult if you choose the Fast Pass. Remember that after booking your tour with us, we will help you with the entire buying process.

I heard that it is possible to get to Christ the Redeemer by van. Can I choose this over the train?

Of course. In this case, we will take you to the Visitors Center (Paineiras) and from there we take the van to the Christ the Redeemer. It is a cheaper option, the ticket cost an average of BRL 40.00 per adult with a discount for seniors, children and students from Brazil only. For more information, the official website is this. But we recommend the train ride as it is a more complete experience.

What is so interesting about Santa Teresa?

Santa Teresa is a very characteristic neighborhood, with many slopes and old buildings. There is the Parque das Ruinas (Ruins Park), from where you have a beautiful view of the city and the Guanabara Bay. A stop at Largo dos Guimarães to learn the history of the neighborhood and visit the local craft shops is also a good choice.

Regarding lunch, can I choose the restaurant? I don't want to go to a place just because you get a commission.

I know this happens a lot on tours but we do not take our customers to restaurants just because they commission us. We value quality and variety, as we want you to have an excellent experience. We have some suggestions, of course, but you can choose where you want to go.

My group has more than 4 people. How can I book?

In that case you can either book 2 or more tours for the same day or contact us for a special quote.

Will the tour be cancelled in case of bad weather?

We do not usually cancel tours due to bad weather. What we do is to adapt the itinerary or, if possible, change the date. If you cancel the tour less than 48 hours in advance, except in extreme cases, there will be no refund, as per our cancellation policies.

I am not sure if I feel safe booking on your website. How can I be sure that it's not a fraud?

We have a TripAdvisor profile and we are registered in the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism. But we understand your concern. There is a lot of scams on the Internet so if you don’t feel safe and/or comfortable booking directly on our website, we strongly recommend that you do on TripAdvisor. You can follow this link or search for ‘be free rio’ on their website. No matter the source of your booking we guarantee that you will have an unforgettable experience!
